Question: Will we be bothered by insects? What can we do to protect ourselves from mosquitoes, blackflies and other local conditions?

Answer: We do have pesty little bugs. Black Flies are at their peak throughout June, and last up to the first hot spell of early July. Mosquitoes are here all season, but usually stay unnoticed until evening. On the water a slight breeze usually keeps the bugs away, however some secluded bays in the evening can be challenging. Insect repellants with the active ingredient DEET are very effective. All of our accommodation cabins have insecticide machines that keep them insect-free. We have no poisonous spiders, snakes or any harmful small creatures in northern Ontario.
